5,0 sur 5 étoiles Havnt been able to say until now: a story that speaks to the soul...
Formater: BrochéAchat vérifiéI absolutely 100% adore this story, art, and collection in it's fragile yet solid entirety. I typically don't look much into comics before hand except I like volumes, nice looking art, and a decent story.
I love the bitter sweetness of this story that is incredibly relatable to us as a species I think.
There is the grand question of sentience and the worth of what I think a soul is or could be in this story.
Without giving it away, I can only say that I don't want to take any pictures of this book or tell you more because it's an experience I think someone should have for themselves, alone maybe, and with some time...
I don't like to read so much at one time but I literally put work and everything else aside just to keep myself immersed in this comic book.
It may not be for all to have such a wonderful experience as I did, but in this story it's futuristic, has robots, action, is kid friendly I think which is awesome (as in no sexual things although there is a very brief mention of Ayahuasca ), and has a fantastic flow of story telling.
I did not understand when I bought this; just how much I'd love, absolutely love...and appreciate this.
Thank you to the author and the entire team that brought this experience to me. :)

5,0 sur 5 étoiles Amazing!!
Formater: BrochéAchat vérifiéI loved this story. I’m a gamer so when I saw the summary of a game character or non-playable-character (NPC) who becomes self aware; I was sooo interested. And the story didn’t disappoint; the graphics were awesome and the twist at the end was so rewarding. The main character, being a dark skinned beautiful woman made this a diverse and enjoyable story. Thanks so much for this awesome story

5,0 sur 5 étoiles A fast paced fun read with some good ideas
Formater: BrochéAchat vérifiéI really enjoyed the first (of many, hopefully) volume of Self/Made.
The limited space you have to convey an idea, a moral, or your point, is usually what can make a piece of work feel disjointed or meandering. The team here did a really awesome job introducing a few really great ideas around what makes someone a "someone" and hitting that nail on the head.
As a result of getting everything needed to tell a full story by the end of the book, I felt there were some engaging characters we didn't get to spend a lot of time with and a few locales that I would love explored more. This isn't a bad thing, it just means I'm chomping at the bit for more.
The team did a really nice job. I also really enjoyed the behind the scenes material where each member got a few pages to tell the reader something about the process. Many books have these, but this felt like it had a bit more of a personal touch than slapping a bunch of drawings at the end.
Keep up the good work. Hope to see more.

4,0 sur 5 étoiles Tron, Bladerunner, Ghost In The Shell, Westworld if those are your interest, buy this.
Formater: BrochéAchat vérifiéBought this after hearing an interview with the author, Matt Groom. For me, I enjoy most things that ask those bigger questions through sci-fi stories. This takes on the classic when something programmed more than just a program. If you like any of the movies/shows/comics mentioned in the title of this review, I would be shocked if you did not enjoy this.
I appreciated that Groom and his team added a making of section. Kind of like a nice bonus feature in a DVD. Always interested in the creative process. The artwork was great and I got the print version, so I can say the print was solid. I have no bias towards print or digital. I will admit I still subscribe to a couple of print copy comics because I grew up with that.
Looking forward to what Groom and team do with a second volume of Self/Made.
